The Birs river as a lifeline
The Birs river connects the municipalities between Grellingen and Birsfelden (both part of the Birsstadt conglomeration) and was named ‘Countryside of the Year’ in 2012. Its importance as an area of natural beauty and ecological compensation area continues to grow.
The Reinacher Heide nature reserve
Area of natural beauty of national significance. The area is home to almost half of all plant species that grow in the canton and is one of the most valuable nature reserves in the Basel-Landschaft region.
